Live Illustration for Rotary Charity Ball (and medieval retreat at Hotel Krasicki)

Slow early January? That hasn’t been a case for me. I have been busy with my freelance work and also my first live illustration gig happened for the first time for me in Poland – in the region, where I come from. I have been invited by Rotary club to perform live illustration over their annual charity ball. It was the first time as well when the illustration was treated as in the form of charity – all the money spent on each individual portrait was going for the cause.

I was wearing this unique red dress from Lou – I wanted to be stand out and I thought that the collar and long sleeves with the waist ruffled bottom made it look super classy and elegant.

I drew a lot of beautiful ladies that night dressed in very chic ball dresses, but I had to make a highlight on this lady who was also in red!

It turned out to be extremely popular – while everyone was dining and wining, I was working super hard until 2AM!! And not everyone got drawn… I had to rest eventually after 5 hours 🙂

Luckily I could catch a breath next day, as the event was taking place at the magnificent hotel Krasicki – have you ever wondered how it is to spend a night in medieval castle? Well, the ride up to northern part of Poland (Warmia & Mazury) could be just the right destination. The area is famous for many medieval castles and this one has been magnificently adapted to a 4 star hotel. You may think it is very cold inside (hence the winter full of snow outside) – but i was surprised how well heated the room and corridors were!

It has a SPA (treated myself with a facial and massage after long night before), swimming pool, sauna… It does feel funny when you walk the corridors which are truly complex – you might actually get lost! I literally felt as if I was visiting one of those castles which are museums, but wandered off the official tourist trip and just was visiting it on my own and was allowed to touch all the objects 😉

The restaurant also was special – again had that museum vibe to it with a traditional elements of regional folk design. And traditional polish cuisine served with the top notch taste was delicious.

It was a perfect getaway for me to enjoy live illustration, party, and the stay at the nice hotel… Travelling to Warmia (FYI the cleanest part of Poland) is very easy and cheap from London – since the opening of the new airport in Szymany, you can get a flight from… £7,99! I think that was the cheapest flight I ever took in my life – it was more expensive than luggage!

So, anyone fancies a medieval get away?

SUKI London – Illustration and Launch

I have been commissioned a while ago by emerging luxury fashion designer SUKI London to provide her fashion illustrations for her SS15 collection and invitation to the launch party held at Wolf & Badger. I focused on delicacy, watercolor washes and ink that resembled the meticulous lace used all over the beautifully crafted dresses.

The event was held at Mayfair’s Wolf & Badger, which was a perfect location for an intimate launch with fashion friends. The luxury theme of SUKI was supported by beautifully arranged refreshments!

Girl from Paddington

I have been a Londoner for last 3 years but only recently moved to the West side of London. Once the sun started to come out it encouraged me to explore more of my neighbourhood. I must admit I am falling in love with Notting Hill area every day – after living 3 years in Highbury & Islington.

This is my very first look that I combined with the elegant white architecture of Paddington streets. I am wearing black and white to bring out the boldness of the architecture.

All the photographers were taken by a rising street style photography talent Zac Mahrouch – watch out for him, he is a real pleasure to work with and has a great eye and skills for very young age! http://www.zacmahrouchephoto.co.uk/

London Fashion Week – my looks

It is also a real chance for me to try my best in styling. I am not a professional stylist, this is something I have been doing for my own pleasure and passion – therefore it is always a great test for me to see what feedback I get from Sommerset House visitors. And it was a truly great one! I had gained a great interest and feedback this year on my looks and encouraged by positive words I decided to create this blog.

DAY ONE

The customized bow made by Anna Kostina was a true sensation. It has been my signature headpiece I have been wearing on my gigs and performances and I was sure it would gain excellent exposure at LFW – who doesn’t love the quirky there?

I combined my pop bow with truly pop T-shirt / dress from SS15 Moschino – I thought the pop culture of big bow and striking M (as a symbol of McDonald’s) would work together great as a playful, pop arty match.

In addition that I wore a faux fur from Bershka (Black & White always works great with red) and my secret weapon which was coresspondance to Moschino and the bow – golden camera bag from Accessorize (true bargain I must admit!). The whole look was completed by the elegant touch of my Guess stilettos I got in NYC.

This look made me feel bold, quirky and extravagant – all that I love most about fashion.
